Fourteen people were arrested and 357 traffic citations issued during extensive police checks across Cyprus overnight, as officers stepped up patrols in key urban areas.
Police said the coordinated operations were aimed at preventing serious crime, maintaining public order and strengthening public safety.
The 14 arrests involved a range of alleged offences, including illegal possession of drugs, unlawful residence in the Republic, traffic offences, drunkenness and disorderly behaviour.
Nearly 1,000 people checked overnight
During the operations, officers stopped 746 vehicles and checked 997 people travelling in them.
Police also carried out 51 inspections at premises as part of efforts to tackle unlawful activity, resulting in 12 reports.
The operations were carried out across the island as part of an increased and targeted police presence.
128 speeding offences recorded
Traffic checks resulted in 357 citations for various offences, while a further 20 suspected traffic violations are under investigation.
Of the citations issued, 128 were for exceeding the speed limit.
Police also impounded 20 vehicles during the operations.
Three positive preliminary drug tests
Officers carried out 146 alcohol tests, resulting in 11 citations.
Five preliminary drug-driving tests were also conducted, with three returning positive results.
Police said operations aimed at preventing and combating crime will continue daily through an increased presence, targeted checks and immediate operational action.
The measures are intended to protect the public, maintain public order and strengthen the sense of security among residents.
