Viva.com has been selected by the Treasury of the Republic of Cyprus to provide electronic transaction processing services, according to an announcement by the company.
The tender process for awarding the contract lasted four years. A Treasury official told the Cyprus News Agency that the delay was due to procedures that took place after the bids were submitted.
More payment options for citizens
The contract covers electronic payments by citizens and businesses to the state, including direct taxes, vehicle road tax renewal fees and social insurance contributions.
Viva.com said the total annual payment volume handled through the service is expected to exceed €1.5 billion.
The new platform will offer citizens more payment options, combining card payments with account-to-account (A2A) transfers.
Payments through Gov.cy
Viva.com will also serve as the main transaction-processing mechanism behind the Payment Gateway (PGW) of the government’s Gov.cy platform.
The system will bring electronic payments together, allowing citizens to settle their obligations to government services through a single platform.
