The weather will be generally mostly clear today, with locally increased cloud mainly over the mountains during the early afternoon, according to the Department of Meteorology.
Seasonal low pressure is affecting the region.
Winds will be mainly south-westerly to north-westerly, initially light at 3 Beaufort before gradually becoming moderate at 3 to 4 Beaufort. On the southern coast, winds may reach 5 Beaufort in the afternoon.
The sea will be calm to slightly rough.
Temperatures will rise to around 39C inland, 31C on the west and south-west coasts, 35C on the remaining coastal areas and 30C in the highest mountains.
Clear tonight with possible fog
Tonight, the weather will remain mostly clear, although locally increased low cloud will develop along the coast at times.
During the early morning hours, patches of light fog or fog may form, mainly inland and in the east.
Winds will gradually become variable and light, up to 3 Beaufort. The sea will remain calm to slightly rough.
Temperatures will fall to around 21C inland, 23C on the coasts and 19C in the highest mountains.
Outlook for Tuesday to Thursday
On Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, the weather will remain generally mostly clear. However, locally increased cloud will develop over the mountains after midday.
Isolated showers cannot be ruled out, mainly on Tuesday and Thursday.
Temperatures are not expected to change significantly and will remain above average for the time of year.
The weather outlook therefore points to continued above-average temperatures through Thursday.
