Vessel seized near Strait of Hormuz

A ship hijacking has been reported off the coast of the United Arab Emirates near the Strait of Hormuz, according to a British maritime security authority.

The vessel was reportedly boarded and seized by unidentified individuals while anchored approximately 38 nautical miles northeast of Fujairah.

Ship heading towards Iranian waters

According to the United Kingdom Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO), the vessel is now heading towards Iranian territorial waters.

The British maritime authority said the ship was taken over by “unauthorised personnel”, though no further details have yet been released regarding the identity of those involved.

Regional security concerns rise

The ship hijacking comes amid heightened tensions and ongoing security concerns in the Gulf region, particularly around the strategically vital Strait of Hormuz, a major global shipping route.

Authorities continue to monitor the situation closely, while further information about the crew and cargo remains unclear.
