Authorities in Iran are planning to convert part of a university damaged by U.S.-Israeli strikes into a “war museum,” officials said on Saturday.
According to Zafarollah Kalantari, the affected area at the Isfahan University of Technology will be preserved as a “historical document of the country’s scientific oppression.”
At the same time, he announced that new land has already been allocated for the construction of a new building and the procurement of modern equipment for the university.
According to the Iranian news agency IRNA, initial estimates place the damage to university facilities and infrastructure at around $11 million.
The university in Isfahan, one of the largest educational institutions in the country, was targeted in March during a conflict that had begun a month earlier and spread across the region.
Iranian officials claim that more than 30 universities were hit by bombings, including institutions in Tehran, along with residential areas and other civilian infrastructure.
A ceasefire between the involved parties has been in place since April 8.
