Over 4kg of cannabis seized at Larnaca airport

A seizure involving a parcel containing more than 4 kilograms of cannabis was uncovered at Larnaca Airport in recent days.

According to a police announcement on Thursday, the package was detected during routine customs checks carried out at the airport.

Authorities said the operation was conducted jointly by the Drug Law Enforcement Unit (YKAN) and the Customs Department as part of ongoing efforts to intercept narcotics entering Cyprus.

The parcel, which originated from a third country, was flagged as suspicious during inspection and subsequently found to contain 4.434 kilograms of cannabis.

Police confirmed that the drugs were confiscated and secured for further forensic examination.

The Drug Law Enforcement Unit continues its investigation into the case to identify those responsible for the shipment.
