Turkish commentator sparks outrage with threats

Turkish threats about Cyprus and Greece have triggered strong reactions following controversial remarks by İbrahim Karagül.

In a social media post, the Turkish commentator issued extreme warnings targeting Greece, Cyprus and Israel amid rising tensions in the Middle East.

Karagül, a former editor-in-chief of the pro-government newspaper Yeni Şafak, claimed that if Israel, with the support of the United States, were to target Turkey after Iran, Ankara would respond militarily on multiple fronts.

Claims of action against Greece

The Turkish commentator suggested that Turkey could initially move against Greece by seizing islands in the Aegean.

He also referred to the “liberation” of Western Thrace and went as far as suggesting the possibility of occupying the entire country.

The remarks form part of broader Turkish threats about Cyprus and Greece circulating in the context of heightened geopolitical tensions.

Cyprus mentioned in extreme rhetoric

In the same post, the commentator issued threats about Cyprus, claiming that Turkey would “take the whole island”.

He alleged that Nicosia had become an “executor of Israel”, further escalating the rhetoric directed toward the Republic of Cyprus.

Escalation against Israel

Karagül also claimed that the “real conflict” would ultimately be directed against Israel.

According to his remarks, Turkey could occupy the country, destroy Tel Aviv, and “liberate” Jerusalem.

He concluded by arguing that no geopolitical plan for the region could be implemented without Turkey, describing this as a historical reality spanning the past millennium.
