Greek political leaders’ debate on Tempi accident in the Parliament

Date:

Political interest on Wednesday is focused on the Parliament where the debate of political leaders, which SYRIZA and KKE had requested on the subject of “the Tempi crime”, will be held.

The session will be opened by Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis, and will be followed by the two leaders who submitted the relevant request, the General Secretary of the communist party KKE, Dimitris Koutsoubas and the leader of SYRIZA, Sokratis Famellos.

In today’s debate, the leader of PASOK, Nikos Androulakis, is expected to submit a motion of censure against the government following the recent findings of the National Organization for Investigating Air and Rail Accidents and Transport Safety (EODASAAM), regarding the train accident in Tempi.

The leader of PASOK had called on all progressive opposition parties to support his legislative initiative, for the submission of which 50 signatures of MPs are needed and PASOK has 32 MPs in total.
According to Article 84 of the Constitution, the debate on the motion of censure begins two days after its submission, unless the government requests it to begin immediately, while it cannot be extended beyond three days from its beginning.

The vote will begin immediately after the conclusion of the debate, while it can be postponed for 48 hours if the government requests it and is accepted only if it is approved by the absolute majority of the total number of MPs.
