The Cyprus weather forecast includes isolated rain and possible thunderstorms on Monday, with very strong winds expected in some coastal areas as low pressure affects the region.
According to the Department of Meteorology, locally increased cloud cover will develop at intervals, bringing isolated rain or a thunderstorm. The unsettled conditions are expected initially in western areas and later over the mountains, inland and in the southeast.
Winds to reach 6 Beaufort
Winds will blow mainly from the southwest to northwest at moderate to strong speeds of 4 to 5 Beaufort.
During the afternoon, winds along exposed coastal areas will temporarily become very strong, reaching 6 Beaufort.
The sea will be slight to rough.
Temperatures will rise to around 28C inland and along the southern and eastern coasts, around 26C on the remaining coasts and 18C in the higher mountains.
Clearer conditions overnight
Tonight, the weather will become mostly clear, although increased cloud cover is expected at intervals in western areas.
Winds will remain mainly southwesterly to northwesterly, light to moderate at 3 to 4 Beaufort, while the sea will be calm to slight.
Temperatures will fall to around 18C inland, 20C along the coast and 11C in the higher mountains.
More rain and thunderstorms this week
The Cyprus weather forecast remains unsettled through the middle of the week, with locally increased afternoon cloud expected to bring isolated rain or thunderstorms on Tuesday and Wednesday.
Local rain and isolated thunderstorms are also forecast for Thursday.
Temperatures will gradually fall slightly over the coming days, eventually settling just below the seasonal average.
