A total of 60 convictions were recorded in child abuse cases during 2025 in Cyprus, according to the Police Communication Branch.
Authorities stressed that behind every number lies a thoroughly investigated case handled with professionalism and specialised expertise.
Specialised unit handling investigations
The Sub-Directorate for the Management of Cases of Vulnerable Persons (Y.D.Y.E.P.) has been responsible for handling these investigations.
Police highlighted that officers carry out systematic work with the aim of bringing each case to completion.
Focus on child protection
Authorities underlined that the priority remains the protection of minors, using a multidisciplinary approach to ensure effective and child-friendly investigations.
This approach also aims to provide substantial support to victims at every stage of the process.
Cooperation with support organisations
In handling child abuse Cyprus cases, police work closely with organisations such as Hope For Children CRC Policy Center and the “House of the Child”.
These partnerships aim to support victims with respect, care and responsibility.
Authorities reiterated that the protection of children is a collective responsibility for society as a whole.
