218 dead in Syria as Turkey-backed forces clash with Kurds

Date:

Hostilities between Turkey-aligned forces and Kurdish armed groups have claimed the lives of at least 218 people over three days in northern Syria, according to information released yesterday, Tuesday, by the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR).

The UK-based NGO, which relies on a wide network of sources in Syria, reported that “218 members of Kurdish forces and factions aligned with Ankara were killed in three days of fighting in Manbij and its outskirts,” where Turkey-backed forces launched an offensive. During their assault, “they managed to enter Manbij and deploy in its surroundings.” The Observatory added that hostilities are ongoing in the area near Raqqa.
