Social media users shared videos and photos of the downpours from various areas, showing widespread rainfall across the country.
Flooding and strong winds
According to Fire Service spokesperson Andreas Kettis, two incidents were reported in the Paphos district related to the severe weather. One involved the clearing of storm drains at a roundabout, while the other occurred at a hotel where water levels rose dangerously but receded before intervention was needed.
The Fire Service also responded to three separate cases of sparking electricity cables due to strong winds- one in the Famagusta district and two in Larnaca. These incidents were handled promptly in cooperation with the Cyprus Electricity Authority, with no injuries or serious damage reported.
