President in Athens for DEFEA conference and high-level defence talks

The Christodoulides visit to Athens is underway today as the President of the Republic of Cyprus travels to the Greek capital to participate in the defence industry conference DEFEA.

According to a statement from the Presidency, Nikos Christodoulides will address the conference, which brings together key stakeholders from the defence sector.

Meetings with Greek and EU officials

On the sidelines of the event, Christodoulides is scheduled to hold bilateral meetings with Greece’s Minister of National Defence Nikos Dendias.

He will also meet with European Commissioner for Defence Andrius Kubilius, with discussions expected to focus on Cyprus’ Presidency of the Council of the European Union and wider European defence policy.

The agenda highlights the strategic importance of the Christodoulides’ visit to Athens in strengthening regional and EU-level defence cooperation.

Delegation and official programme

The President is accompanied by Defence Minister Vasilis Palmas, Deputy Government Spokesman Yiannis Antoniou, and other government officials.

The visit is scheduled to conclude later today, with the President returning to Cyprus in the afternoon.

The DEFEA (Defence Exhibition Athens) conference is a major international defence industry event, showcasing military technology, security systems and strategic partnerships across Europe and beyond.

Cyprus’ participation underscores its growing engagement in European defence initiatives and security cooperation frameworks.
