The Parthenon scaffolding has been removed after nearly 15 years, marking a rare moment for Athens visitors, as the iconic temple now stands fully visible once again.
The removal of the metal Parthenon scaffolding was completed on 30 September, revealing the monument’s south façade- the side visible from the Herodeon- without any construction equipment for the first time in over a decade.
However, the clear view of the Parthenon may be temporary. Restoration and maintenance works are expected to continue in the future, likely involving smaller and more flexible structures that will not obscure the monument’s full exterior.
