Air campaign continues with heavy damage
A senior Israeli official stated that the Israeli Air Force has carried out more than 6,000 strikes on over 3,000 targets in Iranian territory since the start of the war. According to the official, the total strikes from the second day of the conflict already exceed the entirety of the Twelve-Day War.
Destruction of ballistic capabilities
The official claimed that over 60% of Iran’s ballistic capabilities have been destroyed through continuous tracking of launchers, intelligence operations, and US-Israeli coordination. Despite this, Iran remains a serious threat, and Israeli air defences are not infallible, contributing to civilian casualties. The official also accused Iran of deliberately targeting neighbourhoods and urban areas.
Underground facilities and new techniques
Regarding deeply buried facilities, the official acknowledged that some targets are too deep to be destroyed solely by airstrikes. He noted that new techniques have been developed to render these facilities non-operational by forcing personnel to relocate, thereby making them vulnerable to follow-up strikes.
Targeting of Tehran fuel tanks
The Israeli strikes on fuel tanks in Tehran were described as hitting a military target used by the Revolutionary Guards. The official claimed these actions were part of coordinated planning with the US, a position contradicted by subsequent American statements cited by major US media.
Remaining Iranian capabilities
The official reported that more than 100 launchers remain in Iran, possibly more, but that number is gradually decreasing. The objective is to reduce Iran’s capabilities to a level that no longer constitutes an existential threat.
