US President Donald Trump said on Saturday that the United States still needs to deal with one or two additional targets in Iran, including the so-called “Pickaxe Mountain”, where a heavily fortified nuclear facility is believed to be located.
“We have eliminated their nuclear capabilities. We still have, I would say, one or two sites to deal with. But we can do that in 10 minutes,” Trump told reporters at his residence in Florida.
Underground nuclear facility near Natanz
Pickaxe Mountain is located in Isfahan province, approximately 200 kilometres south of Tehran, near the Natanz nuclear complex.
The site is believed to contain two networks of tunnels constructed deep underground.
Experts estimate that these tunnels may lie beyond the reach of even the most powerful bunker-busting bombs available to the US military.
Trump’s remarks suggest that Washington is considering further action against Iranian nuclear facilities, although he did not provide specific details about any potential operation or its timing.
