New digital registry maps dangerous buildings in Nicosia

Date:

The dangerous buildings registry has been launched by the Nicosia District Local Government Organisation (EOA Nicosia), providing citizens with direct access to information on buildings classified as dangerous or requiring repairs.

The new digital platform allows users to search for details by administrative area and includes an interactive map to make accessing information easier.

According to EOA Nicosia, the active registry currently includes 712 buildings across the district. Of these, 657 have been classified as dangerous, while 55 have been identified as requiring repairs.

Information available through interactive map

The registry shows that 310 of the listed buildings are located in urban areas, while 402 are in rural communities, covering a total of 72 administrative areas across Nicosia district.

The platform is designed to provide continuous and reliable updates, with information automatically refreshed whenever new data is recorded.

Through the dangerous buildings registry, citizens can check the status of properties and stay informed about buildings that may pose safety concerns in their area.

Inspections continue across district

EOA Nicosia’s Dangerous Buildings Department carries out on-site inspections and assesses both cases transferred to the organisation from former competent authorities, including municipalities and the Nicosia District Administration, on 30 April 2025, as well as new cases that emerge.

The organisation said the digital service forms part of its wider digital transformation efforts, improving transparency, public information and safety.

It added that the platform will also support more effective management of dangerous buildings and help authorities respond more efficiently to safety issues.

The digital registry and interactive map are available through the EOA Nicosia website.
