Limassol ketamine seizure tops 27kg, two arrested

More than 27kg of ketamine, along with smaller quantities of several other drugs, have been discovered in a flat in Limassol, with two people arrested in connection with the case.

The Limassol ketamine seizure followed information received by the Cyprus Drug Law Enforcement Unit (YKAN), whose officers searched the property at around 11:30 on Tuesday in cooperation with members of the Police Aviation Unit.The search was carried out in the presence of the flat’s two occupants, aged 23 and 24.

More than 29kg of drugs found

During the search, officers discovered:

27kg and 507g of ketamine377g of cannabis776g of mephedrone269g of MDMA172g of cocaine

Police also found approximately €10,000 in various banknotes during subsequent searches.The quantities discovered mean the Limassol ketamine seizure accounted for the vast majority of the drugs recovered from the property.

Police officer injured during arrests

According to police, the 23-year-old and 24-year-old assaulted officers while being arrested, resulting in minor injuries to a member of YKAN.The officer suffered swelling to the lips and redness to one eye. After receiving first aid, the officer was discharged.The two suspects are expected to appear before a court on Wednesday, where police will request that they be remanded in custody.YKAN’s Limassol district unit is continuing its investigation.
