Cyprus youth remain in the family home until the age of 27 on average, according to Eurostat data presented by the Statistical Service of Cyprus.
Marking World Youth Day on 12 August, the Statistical Service examined the situation of young people aged 15 to 29 in Cyprus through a series of indicators.
Young people in this age group account for around 17% of the country’s total population.
Employment and unemployment
In the labour market, 55.2% of young people aged 15 to 29 are employed, above the European Union average of 49.1%.
Youth unemployment has also fallen significantly. In 2025, it stood at 9.3%, compared with 24.5% in 2015.
Education and digital skills
A significant share of Cyprus youth hold higher education qualifications, with the figure standing at 30.6%.
At the same time, 27.4% of young people aged 16 to 29 took part in online courses in 2025, while 21% had digital skills above the basic level.
Social media use is particularly widespread. Some 99.3% of young people use social media, the highest rate recorded in the European Union.
Young people report high life satisfaction
Despite the challenges they face, young people in Cyprus appear largely satisfied with their lives.
When asked to rate their life satisfaction on a scale from 0 to 10, they gave an average score of 7.7.
