Larnaca: 46-year-old man from DR Congo fell to his death

Police have identified the man who died after falling from a building in the Larnaca port area on 27 May during an operation by the Aliens and Immigration Unit.

The victim is a 46-year-old man from the Democratic Republic of Congo. Authorities confirmed his identity shortly after midday and are working to inform his next of kin.

According to police, the man was an asylum seeker whose application had been rejected and who was residing illegally in the Republic.

Investigation continues

Authorities have not released further details regarding the circumstances of the incident. The investigation is ongoing.

Police said efforts are underway to contact and inform the deceased man’s family abroad.

Memorial gathering held

Later in the evening, several foreign nationals gathered at the building in a symbolic act of remembrance.

Participants lit candles in memory of the deceased and held a peaceful vigil, praying for his soul and honouring his memory.
