Indian Film Festival Week 2025 to be held in Nicosia on March 5-9

Indian Film Festival Week 2025 will take place from March 5 to March 9 at the ARTos House in Nicosia.

The High Commission of India in Nicosia said in a press release that the festival “will feature a curated selection of five critically acclaimed Indian films, each reflecting the depth, creativity, and artistic brilliance of India’s vibrant film industry.’’ 

“Through these screenings, the festival aims to foster cultural exchange and enhance the appreciation of Indian storytelling among audiences in Cyprus,” the press release noted, adding that all films will be screened with English subtitles to ensure accessibility for all attendees.

The closing ceremony on March 9 “will bring together distinguished guests and dignitaries, acknowledging the festival’s success and the unifying power of cinema as a bridge between cultures,” the press release noted

It is further added that entry to all screenings is free and open to the public.

The film “Mhorkya”, which will be screened on March 5, at 19:00, is “a heartwarming coming-of-age drama that tells the inspiring story of a fourteen-year young boy who dreams of leading his school’s parade, overcoming numerous challenges along the way.’”

“Eight Down Toofan Mail”, which will be screened on March 6, at 19:00, is “a gripping mystery-drama based on real-life events, following a woman’s extraordinary claim that she is a long-lost royal princess, leading to a thrilling investigation.”

The film “Hellaro’”, which will be screened on March 7, at 19:00, is a National Award-winning film that “highlights the struggles of women in a patriarchal society, set against the backdrop of Gujarat’s vibrant folk dance, Garba.’”

“Good Bye’”, which will be screened on March 8, at 18:00, is “a poignant family drama that explores themes of love, loss, and reconciliation, featuring a stellar ensemble cast.’”

The film “Rakshabandhan”, which will be screened on March 9, at 18:00, is “a touching film that celebrates the bond between brothers and sisters, highlighting the responsibilities and sacrifices that come with family ties.’”
