A fire broke out on Monday afternoon (16/12) at a factory in the Geri Industrial Area.
Speaking to Protoselido, Fire Service spokesperson Andreas Kettis stated that although the fire was brought under control by Monday night, firefighting teams remain on alert as they had to work late into the night and early morning hours due to residual flames within the factory.
He explained that the facility is divided into two sections, one for waste management and the other for small quantities of chemicals.
When asked whether the materials posed a risk to the atmosphere, Kettis noted that the smoke produced is “certainly not ideal.”
Finally, he confirmed that no one was in danger during the incident.
