June arrival figures confirm that tourism arrivals have returned to a more stable course, Deputy Minister of Tourism Kostas Koumis said on Friday.
In a written statement, Koumis said the overall performance of the month was considered satisfactory given the circumstances.
He noted that the 1.7% decline in arrivals compared with June last year shows that the weaker results recorded in March and April, which were affected by the international crisis in the Middle East, are now behind the sector.
First half affected by Middle East crisis
Koumis said the measures taken by the Deputy Ministry and the wider tourism industry to manage the difficult situation that emerged from March onwards have produced clearly improved results.
Commenting on the first half of the year, he said arrivals were down 10.1% compared with the first six months of 2025, but up 0.2% compared with the same period in 2024.
He described the performance as satisfactory considering the significant losses recorded in March and April, which heavily affected overall figures.
The minister added that the latest data creates hope for further reducing the decline in total arrivals by the end of the year.
Support needed for affected markets
Koumis stressed that the government is not simply reviewing the figures but is conducting a detailed analysis of tourism trends.
He said some geographical markets have been affected and require further targeted support to ensure their successful and uninterrupted growth in the coming years.
The Deputy Minister said planning for the next years continues, with particular focus on 2027, in cooperation with the tourism industry.
He added that the long-term goal remains transforming Cyprus into a sustainable, digitally smart and accessible destination for all visitors.
