Cyprus Parliament dissolution approved ahead of elections

The Cyprus Parliament dissolution was unanimously approved by the Plenary of the House of Representatives on Friday, ahead of the upcoming parliamentary elections scheduled for Sunday, 24 May 2026.

The decision was taken in accordance with Article 67 of the Constitution of the Republic of Cyprus.

Next parliamentary session scheduled for June

Following the dissolution of the Cyprus Parliament, the next plenary session of the House will take place on Thursday, 4 June 2026 at 16:00.

The dissolution marks the formal end of the current parliamentary term, paving the way for the electoral process ahead of the national vote.

Electoral preparations underway

With the dissolution of the Parliament now complete, political parties are expected to intensify preparations for the May elections, which will determine the composition of the new legislature.

The move aligns with constitutional procedures governing the transition between parliamentary terms in Cyprus.
