Cyprus’ Christmas weather is expected to feature instability from Christmas Eve through the weekend. Weak high pressure affects the area until Friday, giving way to low pressure from Saturday. Expect increased cloud cover, local rain, and isolated storms, while temperatures remain slightly above seasonal averages.

On Christmas Eve, skies stay partly to mostly cloudy with isolated rain, especially after midday. Troodos peaks may see sleet or snow. Winds blow mainly northeasterly to southeasterly at 3-4 Beaufort, keeping seas calm to slightly rough. Daytime highs reach 19°C inland, 21°C on coasts, and 9°C in higher mountains.

Tonight, partly cloudy conditions persist with possible isolated rain near coasts. Winds ease to 3 Beaufort northeasterly to southeasterly, with seas calm to slightly rough. Lows drop to 10°C inland, 12°C coasts, and 4°C in the mountains, where frost may form locally.

Christmas Day storms and hail risk

Christmas Day starts partly cloudy, then becomes mostly cloudy with local rain and isolated storms, mainly from midday onward. Hail remains possible during storms. Conditions improve temporarily from late afternoon.

Extended outlook through the weekend

Friday and Saturday bring mainly cloudy intervals with isolated rain or storms after midday. Temperatures show no significant change, staying mildly above average through Saturday.
