AKEL’s Limassol District Committee has decided to expel former MP Costas Costas from the party indefinitely, citing conduct considered incompatible with the party’s principles and internal procedures.
Speaking to SigmaLive, Costas confirmed that he had been informed of the decision by telephone in early October.
According to AKEL, the decision followed an assessment of several incidents and other relevant information, which led the party to conclude that the former MP had acted outside its organisational framework.
The party referred to “repeated instances of anti-party conduct”, which it considered incompatible with his status as an AKEL member.
The expulsion is indefinite, although the party has not provided further details about the specific incidents that prompted the decision.
