The Municipality of Ayia Napa has honoured a British couple who have visited the area 50 times, highlighting the town’s enduring popularity as a tourist destination.
According to an announcement by the municipality, Paul and Marilyn Duff from the United Kingdom have repeatedly chosen Ayia Napa for their holidays, reinforcing the destination’s strong appeal to international visitors.
Long-standing tourism relationship
The municipality said the couple’s long-term loyalty confirms the “dynamism and international reach” of Ayia Napa, which continues to attract thousands of foreign tourists each year.
Officials added that the case reflects the town’s position as one of Cyprus’ most popular holiday destinations, particularly among British travellers.
Awarded tourism ambassador title
A ceremony was held on Friday at the Ayia Napa Municipal Building, where Deputy Mayor Antonis Christou, on behalf of Mayor Christos Zannetou, presented the couple with a commemorative plaque.
The couple were also awarded the title of “Tourism Ambassador” in recognition of their repeated visits and contribution to promoting the destination informally through their loyalty.
The municipality said such cases underline the importance of strong visitor relationships in sustaining Cyprus’ tourism sector.
