A balcony collapse in Limassol prompted emergency services to intervene on Monday night after parts of a building fell onto a parked vehicle in the Kapsalos area.

The incident occurred in a seven-storey apartment building, where balconies on the fourth and third floors reportedly gave way and fell onto a vehicle parked at ground level.

According to Fire Service spokesperson Andreas Kettis, the collapse caused damage to the vehicle, while authorities were immediately mobilised to the scene.

Residents evacuated as precaution

As a precautionary measure, residents of the building were evacuated while emergency services secured the area.

No injuries were reported following the balcony collapse in Limassol.

Authorities secure the scene

Fire Service members cordoned off the area before handing the scene over to the police and officials from the Limassol District Local Government Organisation (EOA).

The Civil Defence has also been tasked with arranging temporary accommodation for residents until structural inspections of the building are completed.

Investigations are ongoing, with assessments continuing at first light.
