Ayia Napa: Three 18-year-olds arrested over attack on 47-year-old Turkish Cypriot

Three 18-year-old individuals were arrested and taken into custody in the early hours of Monday under court warrants in connection with an ongoing investigation into a serious assault case in Famagusta district.

Police said the three suspects were detained to facilitate investigations into a case involving grievous bodily harm that occurred yesterday in the district.

The suspects are expected to appear before the Famagusta District Court later today for the issuance of remand orders.

Victim remains in critical condition

According to Police, the 47-year-old victim remains intubated at Nicosia General Hospital.

Based on witness statements gathered during the investigation, the victim was allegedly attacked by a group of foreign nationals, possibly of Asian origin. Investigations remain ongoing to identify and locate any additional individuals involved.

Erhürman comments on incident

The incident also prompted a reaction from Tufan Erhürman, who stated in a social media post that he had requested information from the relevant bicommunal committee.
