A 47-year-old man is receiving treatment at Nicosia General Hospital after being found injured on a road in the Famagusta district on Sunday morning.
According to police, officers received information at around 6am and located the injured man on a street in Ayia Napa.
He was taken to Famagusta General Hospital, where doctors determined that he had suffered a brain haemorrhage and a fracture at the base of his skull. Due to the severity of his condition, he was intubated and transferred to Nicosia General Hospital for further treatment.
His condition is described by treating doctors as serious but stable.
Police investigations have secured testimony indicating that the 47-year-old was allegedly attacked by a group of unknown individuals, resulting in his injuries.
The Famagusta Criminal Investigation Department is continuing its inquiries.
