The “Communities in Action” initiative group held a protest on Sunday morning, demanding an immediate halt to work on the relocation of an asphalt plant to Mitsero.

According to a statement by the initiative group, the plant is being relocated from Tseri, where its operations had been terminated over public health concerns.
The protest took place on the Agios Ioannis–Kato Moni road, at the site where work on relocating the plant has already begun.
Protesters are calling for the immediate suspension of the works, citing public health concerns and the need to safeguard the right of children in the area to grow up in a safe environment and breathe clean air.

During the demonstration, participants held banners carrying messages including “We demand our right to clean air” and “We must protect our children’s future”.
The initiative group has expressed strong opposition to the relocation and is calling on the relevant authorities to reconsider the decision, arguing that public health and the protection of local residents should be prioritised.
