A 56-year-old man has been sentenced to 17 years in prison by the Assize Court in Paphos for possessing a controlled drug with the intention of supplying it to others.
37kg of cannabis seized
The court, which convened in Paphos on Monday, found the man guilty of possessing 37 kilograms and 451 grams of cannabis with intent to supply.
Part of the quantity was found in packaging in the man’s possession, while the remaining packages were discovered inside a tank buried in the ground.
The court subsequently imposed a 17-year prison sentence for the offence.

The case centred on the discovery and seizure of the 37.451kg cannabis haul in the Paphos area.
Authorities found part of the drugs in the suspect’s possession, while the rest had been concealed underground in a buried tank.
