Cleaner used master key to steal jewellery from hotel room in Paphos

Police received a report on Wednesday, 12 August, concerning the theft of jewellery from a hotel room in Paphos district.

According to police, the complaint was made on Thursday afternoon by a hotel guest, who reported that earrings and a bracelet had been stolen from the room where she was staying.

Cleaner entered room with master key

As part of the investigation, police found that a cleaner had entered the room using a master key.

However, the 39-year-old foreign national was not responsible for cleaning the particular room, according to the investigation.

During questioning, the woman reportedly admitted to the theft and handed over the stolen jewellery.

The 39-year-old was arrested and placed in custody as police continue their investigation.
