Emergency financial aid for residents of mountain regions

Date:

The provision of emergency financial aid to residents of mountainous areas is among the topics to be discussed at today’s Cabinet meeting, as mentioned by the President of the Republic, Nikos Christodoulides.

The President stated, “Today we will decide on the provision of emergency financial aid to all residents of our communities situated at an altitude of over 600 meters, amounting to 50 percent of the sum previously granted. This is significant. We are talking about approximately 23,000 eligible individuals from 10,000 households in 128 areas, with an expenditure close to €3 million.”

He noted, “This demonstrates responsible financial management, which not only addresses upgrades that are critically important for many reasons—it directly impacts people. Upgrades bring quality investments, reduce interest rates, and help us implement targeted social policies, increasing the number of beneficiaries compared to previous occasions. This is precisely because fiscal responsibility allows us to expand the pool of eligible recipients.”
