Warning in force from late morning
A yellow warning has been issued by the Department of Meteorology for isolated strong thunderstorms expected to affect mainly inland areas of the island.
The yellow warning will be in effect from 11:00 until 17:00 on the same day. Rainfall intensity is expected to range between 35 and 50 millimetres per hour, while hail is also likely during storms.
Weather turning unsettled by midday
According to the latest forecast, weather conditions will initially be partly cloudy with a chance of isolated showers, mainly affecting the western half of the island. However, by midday and early afternoon, conditions will become mostly cloudy with local showers and isolated thunderstorms.
Hail is possible during thunderstorms, while snowfall or sleet is expected on the highest peaks of the Troodos mountains.
Winds, sea conditions, and temperatures
Winds will blow mainly from the southwest to northwest, weak to moderate at 3 to 4 Beaufort. The sea will be slight to a little rough.
Temperatures are expected to rise to around 19°C inland and along the coasts, while higher mountainous areas will see temperatures near 5°C.
Cool night with risk of frost
Tonight, conditions will remain partly cloudy with a chance of isolated showers, mainly along the coasts.
Winds will shift to mainly northwesterly to northeasterly, weak at around 3 Beaufort, and the sea will be calm to slightly rough.
Temperatures will drop to around 5°C inland, 9°C on the south and east coasts, 10°C on the west and north coasts, and near 1°C in the higher mountains, where local frost is expected to form.
