Famagusta: Man robs kiosk with hunting rifle – 41-year-old wanted

Suspect detained by police

Police announced the arrest of a 41-year-old man suspected of committing an armed robbery yesterday at a kiosk in Ammochostos. The suspect is now in custody while the Ammochostos CID (TAE) continues its investigation.

Details of the robbery

According to preliminary findings, at around 10:40am the suspect entered the kiosk wearing a motorcycle helmet and brandishing a hunting rifle. He threatened the cashier, took cash from the register, and fled the scene.

Police investigation and evidence

Members of the local Xylofagou Police Station and the Ammochostos CID visited the scene. Investigations and witness statements led authorities to the 41-year-old suspect.

He was located by Ammochostos CID officers shortly after 7:30pm and arrested under a court warrant. He remains in custody while inquiries continue.

Ongoing inquiries

The Ammochostos CID is carrying out further examinations to gather additional evidence and complete the investigation.
