Expecting rain and thunderstorms – Forecast up to New Year’s Day

Today the weather will initially be mainly clear, gradually becoming mostly cloudy with high cloud. Locally increased cloud during midday and the afternoon may bring isolated showers, mainly in the west and over the mountains.

Tonight the weather will be mostly cloudy, with rain and isolated thunderstorms expected. Hail may fall during a thunderstorm, while sleet and possibly snow will occur on the highest peaks of Troodos.

Today the weather will initially be mainly clear, gradually becoming mostly cloudy with high cloud, while locally increased cloud at midday and in the afternoon may produce isolated showers, mainly in the west and mountainous areas. Winds will initially be variable and light at 3 Beaufort, gradually becoming mainly south-westerly, light to moderate at 3 to 4 Beaufort. The sea will be slight to slightly rough. Temperatures will rise to around 15°C inland, around 17°C along the coast and around 6°C over the higher mountains.

Tonight the weather will be mostly cloudy, with rain and isolated thunderstorms expected. Hail may occur during a thunderstorm, while sleet and possibly snow will fall on the highest peaks of Troodos. Winds will be mainly south-westerly, initially light to moderate at 3 to 4 Beaufort and along the coast up to strong at 4 to 5 Beaufort. Later, winds along the coast will at times become very strong at 6 Beaufort. The sea will initially be slightly rough, becoming rough later. Temperatures will fall to around 8°C inland, around 12°C along the coast and around 3°C over the higher mountains.

On Wednesday, local showers and isolated thunderstorms are expected, while snow or sleet is possible on the highest peaks of Troodos. On Thursday, isolated showers are expected, while on Friday the weather will be mainly clear.

Temperatures will not change significantly until Thursday, remaining close to average climatological values, while on Friday a drop in temperature is expected.
