Larnaca Airport cocaine arrest: 19-year-old detained

Date:

A Larnaca Airport cocaine arrest has led to the detention of a 19-year-old woman, after authorities discovered over 8.5 kilograms of cocaine in her luggage.

According to the police communication office, the young woman was stopped during a routine customs inspection upon arrival at Larnaca Airport on Wednesday evening. During a search of her suitcase, officers found 13 packages containing a white powdery substance, later confirmed to be cocaine, with a total gross weight of 8.76 kilograms.

The Larnaca Airport cocaine arrest came as part of ongoing joint efforts between the Cyprus Drug Law Enforcement Unit (YKAN) and Customs to prevent drug trafficking into the Republic.

The 19-year-old, who had arrived from a foreign country, was immediately arrested and remains in custody. She is expected to appear before the Larnaca District Court today, where police will request her remand as investigations continue.

The case is being handled by the Larnaca branch of YKAN.
