Inspections and risk assessments
Officials reported that 150 visual inspections have been carried out, with 100 reports already returned for evaluation.
From these, 23 inhabited and 40 uninhabited buildings in Larnaca Municipality were classified as Category C, indicating a visible risk of collapse.
Two additional buildings have already been officially declared dangerous, with one evacuated and another under evacuation warning.
On 20 May, social welfare officers visited one apartment block where 40 residents were identified.
Further declarations expected
Hadjicharalambous said four additional inhabited apartment buildings under the “Ktizo” scheme will be formally declared dangerous next week.
He added that one more structure is expected to be classified as dangerous by Monday as assessments continue.
Safety measures and ongoing monitoring
Of the 20 uninhabited buildings within Larnaca Municipality, 10 have already been fenced off, along with one additional structure in Aradippou.
Authorities say assessments are ongoing as part of wider efforts to manage structural safety risks across the district.
