Just 5 commercial ships a day crossed Strait of Hormuz over weekend

Date:

Commercial vessels visibly crossing the Strait of Hormuz fell to around five a day over the weekend, according to newly released industry data, as shipping companies remain highly cautious amid continuing attacks on vessels attempting the passage.

The actual number of vessels crossing the strategically important waterway may be higher, as some ships switch off their tracking systems while navigating the strait.

The sharp decline in visible traffic highlights the growing caution among shipping companies as security risks continue to affect maritime activity through the Strait of Hormuz.
