Young hikers rescued after getting trapped in remote cliff area

Date:

A rescue operation was carried out by the Special Disaster Response Unit (EMAK) on the afternoon of Holy Thursday, after two young hikers became trapped on a steep cliffside in the Nicosia district.

According to Fire Service spokesperson Andreas Kettis, the pair had gone hiking in the Palaichori area, where they found themselves stranded in an inaccessible location.

Emergency responders deployed a telescopic arm vehicle, and both individuals were safely retrieved from a height of 25 metres. They were then brought to a secure location.

Fortunately, neither hiker was injured, and no medical treatment or hospital transfer was necessary.
