Cloudy conditions with isolated showers
The weekend weather will be marked by mostly cloudy skies and isolated rain, mainly affecting western, northern and mountainous areas. A gradual but noticeable drop in temperatures is expected through Sunday, with values falling below seasonal averages.
Weak high pressure is currently influencing the region, creating unstable conditions across much of the island.
Temperatures fall inland, coast and mountains
Today, clouds will gradually increase, bringing isolated showers, particularly in western, northern and mountainous areas. Winds will be southwest to northwest, initially variable, at around 3 Beaufort. The sea will remain calm to slightly rough.
Temperatures will rise to about 16°C inland, around 18°C along the coast and close to 7°C in the higher mountains.
Cold night with frost risk
Tonight, conditions will remain mostly cloudy, with a chance of isolated rain in western areas. On the highest peaks of Troodos, sleet cannot be ruled out.
Temperatures will drop to around 6°C inland, about 9°C on the coast and close to 1°C in the highest mountains, where local frost is expected.
Snowfall expected in Troodos
On Saturday, the weekend weather will continue to be mostly cloudy, with local rain. Snow is expected on the highest peaks of Troodos, mainly during the evening hours.
On Sunday, isolated showers are forecast, particularly in the southwest, while snowfall will continue in the higher mountainous areas. On Monday, isolated rain or mountain snow may persist, with temperatures showing little change.
Snow depth update
Temperatures will continue to fall through Sunday, remaining below average for this time of year. Snow depth at Chionistra stood at 28 centimetres at the time of the bulletin.
