Rain and strong winds will shape the weather conditions tonight, with cloudy skies, isolated showers and the possibility of snow or sleet on the highest peaks of Troodos, according to the Meteorology Department.
Cloud cover will consist mainly of medium and high clouds, producing occasional isolated rainfall. Winds will blow mainly from the northeast to east, moderate to strong at 4 to 5 Beaufort, and locally along the coast very strong at 5 to 6 Beaufort.

Weak high pressure is currently affecting the area, while a weak low-pressure system is expected to move in from tomorrow. Thin dust will be suspended in the atmosphere at times.
Tonight, skies will remain cloudy with intermittent isolated showers. On the highest peaks of Troodos, snowfall or sleet is possible. Winds will remain northeast to east, moderate to strong, and locally very strong along the coast. The sea will be rough to very rough. Temperatures will drop to around 7°C inland, 13°C along the coast and around 2°C in the higher mountains, where frost may form locally.
Tomorrow, conditions will stay mostly cloudy, with local rain expected and the possibility of an isolated thunderstorm. Snow or sleet may again fall on the highest peaks of Troodos. Winds will blow from the northeast to southeast, moderate to strong at 4 to 5 Beaufort, locally very strong at 5 to 6 Beaufort, and at times very strong to gale-force, reaching 6 to 7 Beaufort. The sea will generally be rough to very rough. Temperatures will rise to around 12°C inland, 15°C on the coast and about 6°C in the higher mountains.
Tomorrow night, periods of local rain and isolated thunderstorms are expected. Snow or sleet remains possible on the highest mountain peaks. Winds will continue from the northeast to southeast, moderate to strong, and locally very strong along the coast. Sea conditions will remain rough to very rough.
Outlook for the weekend
On Friday, the weather will be partly cloudy with occasional isolated showers. Snow or sleet cannot be ruled out on the highest peaks of Troodos.
On Saturday, skies will be mostly cloudy with local rain and isolated thunderstorms, followed by gradual improvement later in the afternoon. Snow or sleet is expected in the higher mountains.
On Sunday, the weather will be partly cloudy at times.
Temperatures are expected to gradually rise through Sunday, reaching close to or slightly above seasonal averages.
The snow depth at Chionistra, at the time of release, stood at 21 centimetres.
