Warning issued over Troodos road conditions

Date:

Slippery roads and dense fog in Troodos

Drivers are being urged to take extra care as Troodos road conditions have deteriorated due to recent heavy rainfall and sleet in the area.

Authorities report that the Platres–Troodos, Karvounas–Troodos and Prodromos–Troodos roads are particularly slippery. At the same time, dense fog is affecting the area, significantly reducing visibility.

Drivers urged to remain cautious

Motorists travelling in the region are advised to drive at low speeds, keep their headlights on and maintain safe distances from other vehicles.

The combination of wet road surfaces and limited visibility increases the risk of accidents, making caution essential for all road users.

Hazardous mountain conditions persist

The current Troodos road conditions reflect ongoing unstable weather patterns affecting the mountainous areas of Cyprus. Drivers are encouraged to stay updated on weather and road announcements before travelling.

Authorities continue to monitor the situation and may issue further advisories if conditions worsen.
