Unidentified man discovered in sea
The cause of death remains unclear after a body was found in the Akamas Peninsula sea area on Monday.
According to Police, a post-mortem examination took place on Thursday at the Paphos General Hospital, conducted by forensic pathologist Nikolas Charalambous. Findings indicate the deceased is an unidentified man, while the condition of the body did not allow authorities to determine the exact cause of death.
Efforts underway to identify victim
Authorities have collected samples and other evidence in an effort to establish the man’s identity. Investigators are also examining whether the body may belong to a person listed among missing individuals.
The body was discovered at approximately 5:45am on Monday by a 48-year-old man who was in the area for fishing.
Police and coast authorities respond
Police said that members of the Paphos Police and the Cyprus Marine Police rushed to the scene after being alerted.
The area was cordoned off to facilitate examinations and evidence collection, with all procedures carried out in line with protocol.
The case is under investigation by the Polis Chrysochous Police Station and the Paphos CID.
