US President rules out extension
US President Donald Trump has said he is not considering extending the ceasefire with Iran, according to remarks reported by journalist Jonathan Karl of ABC News.
In a post on X, Karl said Trump does not believe an extension will be necessary and suggested that “two amazing next days” could be ahead.
“Could end either way,” Trump says
Trump reportedly indicated that the conflict with Iran could end either through a negotiated settlement or military action.
“It could end either way, but I think a deal is better because then they can rebuild,” he said, according to Karl’s account.
He added that Iran’s leadership has changed significantly, claiming that “the extremists are gone,” without providing further details.
Remarks on global stability
The US President also suggested that without his leadership, global instability would be significantly worse, according to the same report.
“I believe if I weren’t President, the world would have fallen apart,” he was quoted as saying.
Comments on Hungary election
Trump also commented on Hungary’s political situation, referring to the recent parliamentary election in which nationalist Prime Minister Viktor Orban was defeated by opposition figure Peter Magyar.
He said he was not concerned about the result and expressed approval of the winner, describing him as “a good person” who would do “a good job”.
Trump also questioned whether his presence, rather than US Vice President JD Vance, would have changed the outcome of support for Orban.
