Trikomo “court” decision – Greek Cypriot released after fines

Date:

The case of a Greek Cypriot facing charges for breaching personal data concluded on Monday before the “court” in occupied Trikomo. Authorities imposed financial penalties, allowing her release along with her husband. They expect to return to the free areas once paperwork finalizes.

The court sentenced her to fines of 12,000 and 100,000 Turkish liras for obtaining personal data and invading privacy. Non-payment would result in three months imprisonment per charge.

Factors in sentencing

Judges considered her clean criminal record, expressed remorse, age over 65, and health issues. They noted the data was not used to harm third parties.

The decision also orders return of her seized vehicle and mobile phone. The couple awaits document handover from occupation authorities to cross checkpoints.
