The devastating wildfire raging in the mountainous region of Limassol has turned into a tragedy, as police have confirmed that a person was found burnt to death on the Lania–Alassa road.
Initial indications suggest that the victim was a driver who became trapped inside their vehicle as the flames swept through the area. So far, no further information has been released regarding the person’s identity.
The situation at the fire front remains extremely critical, with ground and aerial firefighting forces engaged in a titanic battle. Authorities are urging the public to avoid unnecessary movement and to strictly comply with all safety instructions.A deceased person has been found in the area affected by the wildfire.
UPDATE
Regarding the discovery of a deceased person, the body was located at around 9 p.m. by members of Civil Defence, on the Monagri – Alassa road, inside a vehicle that had been completely burnt out. A second charred body was also found inside the vehicle. Examinations are ongoing to identify the remains.
