Three convicted inmates have been arrested in connection with the stabbing of a 27-year-old remand prisoner at the Central Prisons in Nicosia last week.
The incident occurred on the afternoon of Monday 21 April, when prison authorities alerted police to an assault inside the facility. The injured man was transported to Nicosia General Hospital, where doctors identified multiple wounds across his body, likely inflicted with a sharp object.
Following investigation by the Nicosia CID (TΑΕ Λευκωσίας), three men aged 34, 28, and 26- currently serving sentences at the Central Prisons-were detained on suspicion of involvement in the attack.
They were questioned by police and have since been formally charged.
The charges under investigation include:
- Conspiracy to commit a felony
- Attempted murder
- Acts intended to cause grievous bodily harm
- Inflicting bodily injury
Police have not released further details about the motive or the condition of the victim. The case remains under active investigation by Nicosia CID.
