The government denies reports of missile launches toward bases in Cyprus

Date:

In a post on X, Konstantinos Letymbiotis, speaking on behalf of the Government, denied statements and reports referring to missile launches toward Cyprus, clarifying that this is not the case and that there is no indication of any threat to the country.

“The competent authorities are closely monitoring the situation on a continuous basis,” he added.

It is recalled that British Defence Secretary John Healey revealed on Sunday that two Iranian missiles were launched in the direction of Cyprus, where the United Kingdom maintains key military bases. He noted that RAF (Royal Air Force) fighter jets are taking off from British bases in Cyprus and Qatar in order to protect these two countries from potential Iranian attacks.

“We are not sure whether they were deliberately targeting our bases,” he clarified. The missiles were intercepted.
